Abstract

The international symposium »Verschönerte Landschaften in Mittel- und Mittelosteuropa! Konzepte, Akteure und Realitäten« (»Embellished Landscapes in Central and Central Eastern Europe! Concepts, Protagonists and Realities«), organised by the Arbeitsgruppe Sächsische Gartengeschichte (Saxon Garden History Working Group), which took place on 30-31 March in Dresden, is presented. In addition, a short historical outline introduces the topic of "embellished landscapes" and outlines the role of Wilhelm Gottlieb Becker (1753–1813) in this context. All the essays in the volume are briefly presented, and an outlook is given.
