Adrienne C. Alton-Gust is a PhD candidate in ethnomusicology at the University of Chicago, where she has also obtained a Graduate Certificate in Gender & Sexuality Studies. She is completing a dissertation exploring music, identity, and empowerment in drag performance. In her recent fieldwork, she has engaged in artivism (art activism) together with a community of undocumented LGBTQ+ migrants in the southwestern United States.
