Zu Mahlers Komposition der Schluss-Szene von Goethes Faust

Abstract

Using the example of Mahler's symphony no. 8, the author shows that the composer, at least in his later period, conceived musical connections and then sought and prepared suitable texts. With this background, the interference of linguistic and musical text is discussed.
