Abstract

Source studies in the Staatsarchiv in Weimar had led to the discovery of new details concerning the trip to Dresden undertaken by the Weimar court kapellmeister Adam Drese in October 1652 on the occasion of the princely wedding. Moreover, it has now been ascertained that Schütz sojourned at the Weimar court during two previously unknown occasions, namely in August 1658 and in July-August 1659. At the beginning of August 1659, a 'Komödie von der Judith' and an 'Astrologische Komödie' were performed in Weimar. It is possible that Schütz composed the music (no longer extant) for these two works.
