Heinrich Ignaz Franz Bibers "Harmonia Artificioso-Ariosa" : zu Druckgeschichte und Werkgestalt

Abstract

The publication of Biber's collection of trio suites Harmonia artificioso-ariosa in Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Osterreich 92 (1956) was based on the second edition of the work (Nuremberg 1712). A copy of the first edition (Salzburg 1696), discovered in Kromeríz, suggests that the textual problems already mentioned by the editors in DTÖ were due to a mistaken substitution of parts in the 1712 edition. The availability of the 1696 edition made it possible to examine the publication history of the work and to reconstruct its original form.
