Ein bisher unbekanntes Gedicht von Heinrich Schütz in einer Schrift der Hofschule zu Kassel

Abstract

The author unearthed a collection of obituary poems, Epizedien (1602), commemorating the death of a pupil of the Gymnasium Mauritianum in Kassel. Among the poems is one by the 16-year-old Heinrich Schütz, who attended school there. It is possibly the earliest extant document from Schütz's pen. Schütz's original Latin poem and a German translation are presented.
