The Amount of Samuel Scheidt’s Keyboard Music Surviving in Manuscript Scores. The bulk of Scheidt’s keyboard music has survived in the three volumes of the Tabulatura Nova (1624). The number of pieces surviving in manuscript sources is, by comparison, relatively small and presents many problems of attribution. This paper takes new look at these problems. It also asks whether a number of pieces surviving either with not attribution or under the name of Sweelinck might possibly be attributed to Scheidt. For the most part, these works seem to be relatively early pieces dating before the publication of the Tabulatura Nova.
