Abstract

Departing from the order of the funeral ceremonies and the sovereigns programmatic stipulations for them as conveyed in the symmetry and textual succession of the coffins inscriptions (respectively, of the Exequien composition), the article pursues the question of the relationship in funeral rites between this world and the life to come, between time and eternity. The thesis is that the funeral programme combines worldly and sacred elements in a complex way and attends the passage of the deceased from this world to the spiritual realm in its progression.
