Beobachtungen zur Passionsthematik im italienischen geistlichen Madrigal

Abstract

The passion of Christ is one of the important poetic themes of the Italian sacred madrigal. On the basis of compositions by Lamberto Courtois, Gasparo Costa, and Giovanni Giacomo Gastoldi printed between 1563 and 1598 (RISM 1563/7, RISM C 4218, and RISM 1598/6), the contribution presents several possibilities how the topic of the passion could be depicted textually. Linked to this is the question, in what way these sacred madrigals are related to a specific context, especially considering their form of publication. (Vorlage)
